As I ( Liga) havent received any activities from other girls, except Miriam - here is my progress :
I started to do research on my subbassignemt - explain challanges to businesses posed by virtual world. I found a lot of information, maybe even too much and was reading all day - but realized that I have rushed too much into subject.
I sent e-mail to Mr. Joseph and here is the reply :

start of by explaining the relationship between brands and the company's business model (Google will give you some hard statistics and business models)

Once you have done this:

b. Go to second life and read a description of this environment;
Write down your thoughts - in fact view sites of companies with a virtual presence on SL. Do not proceed to the next section until you have written up answers for (a) and (b).

c. Look at this site: http://tushnet.blogspot.com/2006/07/virtual-infringement.html
Think about the 'business' issues only.
Then do a search of SL, for example, type in words like LANCOME, COCA COLA - what is happening here?
Write down your thoughts.

At all times aim to keep things simple - use the evidence from the site.

d. If you are ready - then cross-reference the 'legal'

So it means, I cannot proceed to my subassignemt while these steps are not completed. Therefore, we ( I and Marloes) decided to work together at first for her subassignemnt and then when the workable answers will be found proceed together to mine subassignemt.
Regarding to this - I think we will have to extend our subassignemnt deadline (9th of November)

As concerns progress of Miriam

-She has posted relevant articles on the research blog (http://ec32-13-research.blogspot.com/), for everyone to read.
They are particularly linked to the research question and the ones about CopyBot and the law suit of Eros, LCC are applicable for her particular sub assignment (Describe the types of unauthorised use of well-known marks and analyse their significance for the way brand identity is evolving).

-she has gathered information on her subassignment and read relevant articles. In these articles she has marked the most important passages with a highlighter, for later use in the text that I will be typing for the sub assignment.

-she has asked Joseph to comment and give a juridical view on the articles posted on the research blog.
